Family Vacation

It had been a long time coming since we started planning for this just about a year ago but it came and went just like that.  We made our trip down to Lake Tahoe for a week of so much fun!  I don't even know how I am going to get all of this on my blog with pictures and all but I am going to try.  We loaded up Sunday morning packed to the top and my brother hauling his boat.  We had already prepared for a long day of travel with everyone we had going so the 9 hours it took us to get there didn't seem to bother anyone.  We had some fun stops along the way with many laughs and a great trip into Costco with all 9 of us - comedy!  Finally arrived at our destination and we couldn't have been happier.  It was paradise!  The crystal blue water, the clean crisp air, no work for a week, and family!  We spent many hours on the boat, not as much as Madelynn did but we all got our boat fill.  Mind you Madelynn was scared all the way down to Tahoe to get on the boat and kept asking if she could sit on the beach - no boat for her.  By the second day she was begging to go faster on the boat and if we would let her sleep on it she probably would have.  Kaylee and matt rode the tube she is a little dare devil :).  Water got to be a little cold for her but she lasted a good 15 minutes on it.  We ate most of our meals at the house - which was a huge relief not eating out with 3 kids.  We had a couple beach days of sitting on the sand all day water at our feet and building sand castles.  We did a couple boat days - Matt surfed and knee boarded.  We had one no activity day as Jacob got horribly sick all of a sudden - our kids and their throats.  He has done so well and then all of a sudden ended up with a horrible sore throat and couldn't swallow and had a horrible fever.  Luckily we caught it quick treated it and was better within 36 hours.  We had 3 Golf days - watching golf that is.  One reason we chose to go down when we did was the Celebrity Golf Tournament that was going on at the Country Club in Tahoe.  None of us had ever done anything like that before and man was it worth it.  We got to hang out with celebrities and watch them interact with the crowd and be a part of an extremely fun event.  I would recommend it to anyone.  We all attended on practice round day, we took the boat to the beach hole one day and spent the entire day watching the tournament from the beach and then walked one day on the course.  UNBELIEVABLE!  I have pictures of my family with Charles Barkley, Jack Del Rio, Lou Holtz, we have signed golf balls.  We were in arms reach of Michael Jordan, and so many more I can't even name or spell all of them.
I just can't put into words how wonderful of a vacation we had.  Everyone was happy everyday.  The kids were awesome and such troopers.  We ate ice cream every night, and just remembered we were on vacation so we did whatever we wanted to.  It is not often you go on a trip for a week with 9 people and the day you are leaving you are planning next years same vacation.  All of us were sad to come home, but so happy we had a great time.
We all got wonderful tans, Jacob even got a cute pacifier tan - he was eating the sand so we put his pacifier in his mouth and next thing we knew he had a ring around his mouth.  Tahoe is a wonderful fit for our family we fit in so well.  A great place for kids, a fun night life, and so much to do without doing anything!  The girls have told me multiple times they miss Tahoe and want to go back.  We had one minor fight everyday and it was the same thing - what Madelynn was going to wear for the day.  After day 2 I just said wear whatever, we are on vacation.  So I think she wore the same shorts and tank top about 5 times thankfully there was a washer and dryer.  It drove me crazy but if that was all I had to worry about life was good!
