A lot has changed in the last few weeks here in our family. About 3 weeks ago we lost our nanny who decided to go to school and realized this probably wouldn't work for her if she wanted to be full time. That was a shock for us not to mention a little bit of a set back. What were we going to do in a state where we don't know anyone not to mention we both are holding full time jobs to support our family. t would say that panicked was a conservative word for how I felt at this moment. Without a blink Matt called into his work and asked if he could work from home and within 24 hours Matt had moved his office to the house and was a working stay at home dad again! I have always known we were a good team and worked well together but I have to say Matt sure does carry a lot of weight for us in this partnership. I cannot express how thankful I am for him to always be there for us!!! Things have been pretty good at home - Matt has stayed busy along with picking up the slack with the kids and it has given us a chance to decide what we are going to do from here.
We have decided we are going to send Kaylee and Jacob both to an Arts Academy 3 days a week for school which consists of chinese lessons, karate, pottery, yoga and few other great opportunities for the kids. Matt will stay home with them the other 2 days and then in a few months we will regroup again and see how things are going.
I have to say since we have moved we have gone through a lot and it sure has made us a stronger family to have to rely on each other for situations like this that come up and require us to be flexible and strong as a family! Our goal through things like this is to make sure the kids don't feel any negative reactions and we are always there for them.
Madelynn is doing great in school and it has been fun to see her grow and make new friends in a new school. She has matured so much over the year and is starting to like going full days, it was a challenge at first because she was still used to taking naps, but she has adjusted well and considers herself a big girl now.
Kaylee is also doing extremely well in school and loves the social part more than anything. She is extremely smart for her age and is ready for kindergarten but just needed some friends for her to socialize with so that is what we found for her. She also had surgery on her ears a few weeks ago and did very well. They had to go into both ears and repair holes that were left from her tubes. Of course it was a .01% chance it would happen and that would mean it would happen to us. I have never been through so many surgerys as I have since my kids were born we have been through a total of 7 of them between all 3 kids and in my opinion that is 7 too many, but luckily we can say all the kids are healthy and it was worth it.
Jacob is growing like crazy and is all boy. He has brought so much laughter to this family and is just a happy go lucky boy. He is ready to start making friends as well and we are excited to get him into some schooling. He is smart just like his sisters so it will be fun to watch him grow and learn. He is loving basketball and is new thing is to sleep with a basketball in his bed every night. It sure is cute!
Other than that everyone is doing well and time seems to be going quick. I have been extremely homesick lately and the last time we were home it was extremely hard to leave. They said it would get easier with time but that doesn't seem to be the case when you miss your mommy and your daddy! More than anything it is so hard when the kids ask to see family or friends and you know you are too far away to see them. We do lots of pictures and phone calls but it just isn't the same!
We are going to California for Thanksgiving this year and we are excited to see everyone it has been a while since we were back there and the kids love seeing their cousins! We are driving and we just hope that the roads are good and we make it in decent time without bad roads it takes us 11 hours so any more time than that makes it a long trip :)
