IT IS ALL ABOUT THE GIVING THIS TIME OF YEAR

It sure is easy to get caught up in the craziness of Christmas and the buying of all the gifts and rarely do we sit down to talk about the real meaning of Christmas. As our kids get older we have some lessons we need to teach and no better time than during Christmas Season.

Every year Madelynn and Kaylee's preschool class adopts a family that they give to. Each of the families brings in something and they put together a nice basket to help this family in need. Every year prior to this one it has been me gathering stuff to give to the basket but not really involving the girls. They just didn't seem to understand or really care about what we were doing. But this year Madelynn really wanted to help. For some reason it really stuck with her and she talked about it a lot. We have had many conversations about what it would be like if we didn't have any toys to play with or we didn't have good food to eat for dinner. This concept really seemed to bother her and she was really wanting to give to this family. They have a 3 year old daughter and a 8 month old son and I think that was easy for her to relate to.

So for about 2 weeks Madelynn would talk about which toys she was going to give the little girl. And of course the one that she was most adimate about was a baby doll. She had it set aside for quite some time and finally the day came that she was going to put her toys in the basket. It just came so natural for her. She handed them over and was so proud of herself. Just remember she is 4 years old!

Mrs Chambers was so proud of her and it brought tears to all of our eyes! I have been waiting for this day, the day my child would be lucky enough to help out other kids or friends when they are in need!

Madelynn you are an amazing little girl and your family could not be more proud of you and how giving you are! You have set a wonderful example for Kaylee and I know she will follow in your footsteps!

Now don't get all teary eyed just yet, she still has her selfish moments when it is all about her and "She never gets anything," but hopefully this will stick with her forever and she will continue to always have a giving heart!!
